THE launch of the Poppy Appeal 2014 this week reminds us that the victims of war are not just faces in far away nations that we see or read about in the media.
Here in Britain, here in Hampshire, there are many who live with the results of conflict.
Those who are in need of support may be combat veterans of modern wars who put their lives on the line to protect us here and returned scarred.
They may be those who served in conflicts that are many years old.
They may also be the loved ones left to cope with disabled partners or a parent or people living with just the memory of those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
They all deserve our support.
That is why this paper supports the Poppy Appeal and urges everyone to give all they can and wear their poppy with pride
