FIREFIGHTERS rescued a man from a burning flat in Southampton.
Crews from Hightown Fire Station were called into action when a resident living in Wavell Road in Bitterne saw the fire alarm going off but was unable to rescue the trapped man.
Firefighters were quickly on the scene and gained entry into the third-floor flat by using a ladder, and then led the occupant to safety.
The man received treatment by paramedics from South Central Ambulance.
Two fire engines carrying eight firefighters attended the incident, which happened at 1.43am on Sunday.
They used two breathing apparatus and a hose reel to tackle the fire.
The blaze is believed to have started in the kitchen on the oven hob.
