A HAMPSHIRE firm has scooped a national award for the second time this year.
It was double good news for Barnbrook Systems, which won Supplier of the Year at the Light Rail Industry Awards and highly commended in another category.
The awards are viewed as the Oscars of the light rail industry.
The Fareham firm designs, develops and manufactures many types of electronic and electro-mechanical switching devices and systems, supplying to aerospace, defence, maritime, railway and commercial industries worldwide, notably the Ministry of Defence and overseas governments.
It won Supplier of the Year in the Under 10m euro category for its design, manufacture and supply of products for the light rail industry.
It was highly commended in Technical Innovation category for its cutting-edge Blue Cube device.
This can be used to monitor systems then remotely report to identify safety, reliability and maintenance issues.
The 35-strong company finished just behind Metro Light Rail's Kindle software, which downloads information onto a user's device as soon as they walk into a station.
This success comes after the company, based in Fareham Park Road, won the National Passenger Safety title at the UK Rail Industry Awards and was a finalist for Technology Innovation and Business Excellence.
