More than 5,000 revellers have arrived to take part in the biggest Halloween fancy dress party on the South Coast featuring some of the country’s top DJs and acts.
The annual fright-night sees 11 nightclubs and pubs welcoming punters dressed to impress for the evening.
They include wicked witches, devils, monsters and a host of Frankenstein superheroes and fairytale characters ranging from Batman to Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz.
Even some of the bouncers are joining in the fun by sporting masks to match their black outfits.
Police vans are intermittently circling the streets to ensure the large number of revellers are kept in check and paramedics are on standby - although most of the blood appears to be make-up.
Georgie Carlton, 21, from Marchwood, was dressed as a zombie gondolier and is heading to the Soul Cellar to see drum and bass duo Camo and Krooked.
He said: “It’s been fantastic because people are far less pretentious than on normal nights and there’s a lot more interaction between people.”
Venues include Orange Rooms, 90 Degrees, Pop World, Roxx, Oceana, Cafe Parfait and the city’s newest nightclub Switch.
Artists include DJ Fresh, Redlight, DJ Zinc, Radio 1Xtra DJ Charlie Sloth and garage veterans DJ Luck and MC Neat.
