ABP Port of Southampton’s artist in residence, Lee Campbell, has unveiled the latest painting in her city-inspired collection to the Daily Echo.
Lee is the first ever artist in residence in the port’s history and has been appointed to capture the unique relationship between the port and Southampton as part of the city’s 50th anniversary celebrations.
She kick-started her project by creating drawings and oil on paper sketches from photographs taken during her first visit.
The sketches, or studies as they are called in art, have formed the larger paintings she has produced for her final exhibition.
Her piece “Panoply” captures some of the city’s famous landmarks, including the Bargate, the Civic Centre tower and the port’s Ocean Terminal, on one canvas.
