PUPILS at a Hampshire secondary school were sent home today after a gas leak was detected.
Teachers at Hounsdown school in Totton had to turn students away at the gates this morning after the central heating was turned off as a result of the leak.
All 1,200 pupils were sent home but staff stayed on Jacobs Gutter Lane throughout the day after temporary heaters were provided.
Headteacher Di Nightingale said they were hopeful the heating would be fixed later today by engineers.
