BUSES in Southampton are wearing their Royal British Legion poppies with pride to commemorate those who lost their lives in conflict.
Thirty five buses in First's Southampton fleet have been adorned with large red poppies as a mark of respect to all those who gave their lives in the two World Wars and other battles.
“Southampton is a city with a distinguished military past and we wanted to reflect this legacy in the days leading up to and including Remembrance Day, especially this year, the centenary of the start of World War One,” said Annmarie Cartlidge, First's Customer Engagement Manager for Hampshire, Dorset & Berkshire.
“A total of 200 buses across the business are wearing poppies, which we know will be appreciated by our customers - especially those who were members of the Armed Forces or have family and friends that served. Many of our drivers are also ex-Forces.”
First has made a significant donation to the Royal British Legion for the poppies and customers are advised that if it is safe to do so, First Southampton drivers will be observing the minute's silence at 11.00 on Remembrance Day.
