A 50mph speed limit will be in force when major improvements begin on one of Hampshire’s busiest motorway junctions next week.
Commuters are advised to expect delays when a £2.8m upgrade to junction 3 of the M27 begins on Monday.
As previously reported, the scheme will see the west-bound exit slip road widened to three lanes as part of a £317m Government programme on motorways and major trunk roads.
A 100-metre section of the southbound carriageway north of the roundabout and a 200-metre section on both carriageways south of the junction will be widened to three lanes too. A section of the roundabout between the M27 and the M271 will also be widened.
No speed cameras will be installed along the 300-metre stretch of road where the works are taking place although there are activated cameras in place west of the junction along the section close to the River Blackwater.
The work is due to be completed by spring 2015.
