CHILDREN from across the Winchester district enjoyed a visit by a professional story-teller.
Graham Rogers, pictured with pupils, visited Compton Primary School and told his tale before Year 2 children.
In the audience were pupils from surrounding schools, including Shepherd's Down, Owlesbury, Otterbourne and St Faith's.
Mr Rogers, a former teacher from Fordingbridge, put on stilts as he acted out Jack and the Beanstalk.
The day was held as part of national storytelling week, and aimed to teach pupils about the fun of writing and storytelling.
The 86 children wrote their own stories and swapped them with pupils from other schools, which Jane McDonnell, Compton Primary's literacy co-ordinator, said gave them a purpose to their writing and helped them with their English skills.
The children also got a chance to put their acting to the test as they took part in drama workshops throughout the afternoon.
