A SOUTHAMPTON man who was knocked over by a car outside the entrance to Southampton General Hospital has died from his injuries.

The 60-year-old man had been walking towards the hospital's front entrance at 6.20pm on January 24 when he was struck by a slow moving vehicle, thought to be a light-coloured people carrier.

The pedestrian suffered a fractured femur and was admitted to hospital but his condition worsened and he died.

Roads policing officers from Totton are now appealing for witnesses to the collision.

Sergeant Peter Polson, of Totton Roads Policing Unit, said: "This is a very serious incident and I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision to contact us at their earliest opportunity."
