A MAN has been arrested after a woman was killed in a car crash.

A 45-year-old man from Stockbridge has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by driving without due care and attention following a two-vehicle crash near Sutton Scotney, at the junction of the A30 and the A272.

Julie Hazel Yard, 45, of Chilbolton near Stockbridge, died as a result of her injuries at around 6.30am on December 15.

Her female passenger was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries where she is still being treated.

The male driver has been bailed until March 17.

The road was closed for several hours while he and his passenger, a young boy, were treated at the scene for non life-threatening injuries.

Ms Yard died just shy of an hour before another woman was pronounced dead after a crash on the M3.

Miriam Bartova, of Southampton, was travelling in a grey Fiat Stilo southbound between junctions 9 and 10 on the M3 when she was involved in a collision with a lorry at around 7.40am causing her car to leave the carriageway and land on its roof.
