THESE photos show how vets battled to save the life of one of the nine dogs dumped in a horrific condition in Hampshire.
As reported, nine dogs were left with mangled coast and unable to walk, stand or see, after the animals were found ditched in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
The story, which the Daily Echo broke, has sent shockwaves around the world with thousands of people expressing their outrage at the dogs' treatment.
The pets were cared for by vets at the Cedar Vetenary Group in Alresford.
Here is how vets got to work in shearing the horrendously matted, filthy fur of one of the dogs - which they named Shaun.
The dogs came into the surgery resembling a heap of dirty rags.
As you can see from this picture, their coats were matted, dirty, and left the dogs beyond recognition.
Shaun was placed onto a table and vets got to work in cutting away the fur, which looks as if it was left to grow over some time.
This photo shows how Shaun's coat was clumped together with dirt.
Nearly there.
His coat may be gone but Shaun looks healthier.
