The South Coast Development Team at Savills has successfully sold Southbrook Rise, the former council offices in Southampton, with planning permission for 60 flats.
Acting on behalf of developers, Westrock Ltd, Savills have sold the property in Millbrook Road East, which is located close to Southampton Central Station.
Built in the late 1980s, the property was used as an office up until September 2012, when Southampton City Council vacated the premises.
It is now unoccupied and stripped out ready for refurbishment and it has prior approval for a change of use of the building from offices to 60 flats, including two studios, 17 one-bedroom and 41 two-bedroom.
There is also planning permission for a single storey front extension, internal and external alterations including new shower block and windows, reconfiguration of the car park and new cycle/refuse storage.
Nick Grout, associate director of development at Savills Southampton, said: “The sale of this office block shows continuing demand for investment properties in the city, giving older office stock a new lease of life as much-needed homes.”
