Police sealed off a car park in the New Forest after finding a body in a car.
A wooded parking area off the A35 near Burley has been closed while officers examine the vehicle.
Two police cars and two police vans were at the scene.
Uniformed officers have been joined by at least one forensics expert.
Police have confirmed they were called at 7.30am yesterday to a report of a body at the Vinney Ridge car park on Lyndhurst Road in Burley.
A spokesman said the death was not being treated as suspicious and they were in the process of informing next-of-kin.
The body was discovered in a grey car in the Vinney Ridge car park.
It was removed from the vehicle and is being examined by police officers, who are also taking photographs of the scene.
The road past the car park was reduced to a single carriageway by the presence of police vehicles parked by the verge.
Drivers on their way to and from Burley were slowing down to watch the police operation in progress.
The car at the centre of the drama had been reversed into a parking space and was facing the road when the grim discovery was made.
One of the back doors was open and officers appeared to be examine the rear passenger compartment.
