A HAMPSHIRE schoolboy who died suddenly in his sleep will be laid to rest today following a funeral service attended by family and friends.
The funeral of Ryan Gilmore, 12, will take place at Southampton Crematorium followed by a get-together afterwards at Tottonians Rugby Football Club.
His parents, Jackie and Tony, will also hold a memorial service for all of Ryan's friends at the Trinity Church, in Hazel Farm Road, Totton, on April 20 at 4.30pm.
Test results show that the Hounsdown School pupil died because his heart was three times the size it should have been.
He had been suffering from a condition called hypertrophic cardiomyopathy that causes a thickening of the heart muscle, affecting its ability to pump blood properly.
Doctors have said that Ryan would have been born with the condition and that it often went undetected.
The family would also like to have a memorial rugby cup in Ryan's memory for Hounsdown School.
Mrs Gilmore said: "Ryan loved rugby and we would like his name to live on."
She thanked all her family and friends for the cards and flowers they had been given since Ryan's death nearly two weeks ago.
