A family has been left devastated after an aerial allowing their disabled son to watch satellite TV was ripped down and stolen from the front of their home.

Mother Yvonne Smith, 80, was in her Portswood flat on Saturday evening with her wheelchair-bound son Andrew, 42, who was born with the spinal defect spina bifida, when they heard some unusual noises outside their home.

A quick check of the grounds around their flat revealed all was well -but the satellite dish had been stolen.

Mrs Smith, pictured with Andrew, said: "The satellite television service coming through the dish provides the only entertainment Andrew has got aside from watching Saints at St Mary's.
