TWO Polish men needed hospital treatment after they were seriously assaulted because of their nationality as they made their way home following a night out in Southampton.
Both men, aged 31 and 33, were taken to Southampton General Hospital for treatment. One of them suffered damage to his sight and hearing.
They were walking with another Polish man along Above Bar Street in during the early hours of the morning when they were subjected to the racial abuse.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident which is thought to have two or three attackers.
Investigating officer PC Chris Galpin said: "I'm sure there would have been a number of people in the area at this time, as the local clubs and bars had just closed.
"I would appeal for anyone who saw any of what happened to contact me."
