TWO people were arrested today by police investigating a suspicious house fire in Hampshire.
A 41-year-old woman from Wales and a 19-year-old man from Farnborough, Hampshire, will be questioned by detectives investigating the blaze in Church Crookham, near Fleet.
A man and woman, aged 42 and 41, and a nine-year-old girl escaped when a smoke alarm alerted them to the fire at their terraced home in the early hours of yesterday.
The woman - who jumped with the child from a first-floor window to escape the flames - suffered spinal injuries.
The child and the man were taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation.
A Hampshire Police spokesman appealed for witnesses and said: "This fire could have resulted in fatalities."
Both the police and Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service are investigating the blaze.
