SOLENT Coastguard launched a rescue operation after an angler became stuck in the mud.
The 38-year-old from Porchester raised the alarm after the mud came over his waders, trapping him underneath the pylons near the Cams Hall Golf Course in Fareham.
The rescue, involving police and fire service crews, happened shortly before 5pm yesterday.
Colin Griffiths, Solent Coastguard Watch Manager said: "As a precaution he has now been taken to hospital after his prolonged immersion in cold mud."
