A DISABLED Hampshire man who was turned into a human fireball after a vicious attack in his own home has died.
Michael Toye, aged 43, passed away at the Salisbury District Hospital this morning.
It comes six days after he was discovered with severe burns to his face and body at an address in Simmons Close, Hedge End.
Asked by the Daily Echo if this changed the nature of the current inquires, a police spokesperson said: "It is just being treated as a suspicious incident at this stage."
The attack on Mr Toye shocked the community and his death will deepen the anger.
He had been doused in liquid, thought to be white spirit and set alight leaving him with 50 per cent burns to his legs, chest, chin, lips and eyes.
At the special burns unit he had skin graft operations and he amazed relatives with the way he continued to fight for his life.
A 17-year-old man arrested in connection with this incident is on police bail and is due to report at Eastleigh police station on Tuesday, June 12.
