WHEN she was asked to come up with a relative or friend who was a good singer, Rosie Savill did not have far to look.
For it was not so long ago that her sister Ruth was serenading millions of viewers on TV's Stars in their Eyes.
So 21-year-old Rosie, a student teacher at Fair Oak Infant School, fixed it for the school to tune in to a special appearance from a star of the popular TV series.
About three years ago, 19-year-old Ruth, inset, of Lyndhurst, made a big impact on the show with her spectacular rendition of Crystal Gayle's Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue.
Despite her powerful performance Ruth, who wore a blue floaty beaded dress with waist length dark brown wig and silver shoes, did not win the show. She was beaten by the sounds of another American pop icon, Connie Francis.
Appearing in front of the nation's TV viewers is an experience Ruth will never forget and she jumped at the chance when her sister invited her to sing to 360 pupils and staff at Fair Oak.
This time her numbers for the 30 minute session were from the song book of James Morrison, Van Morrison and Nina Simone.
Rosie said: "The school is big on singing and we were asked if we had friends or relatives who were musical performers. That's why I suggested Ruth."
