DRIVERS faced more delays on the M271 this morning while coming into and out of Southampton.

Rush hour traffic was slow on the northbound approach to junction 3 of the M27 while drivers coming onto the M271 from the junction roundabout reported waits of up 20 minutes.

Police said there were no accidents causing the hold-ups.

The Highways Agency said it had no engineers working at the junction nor reported problems with newly installed traffic lights.

Last week the controversial lights were blamed by motorists for two days of huge queues that built up on the northbound M271 as traffic tried to head out of the city.

The city's Romanse travel centre said this morning's slow moving traffic was probably due to volume of traffic.
