A POST-mortem examination on the body of a disabled man who died after his Hedge End home was torched has revealed that he died as a result of shock caused by severe burning.
Michael Toye, 43, of Simmons Close, had been doused in white spirit and set alight in the arson attack, which has stunned the community, on Thurs-day April 12.
He died in the special burns unit at Salisbury District Hospital - six days after being discovered at his home with horrific burns to his face, hands and body.
Michael had put up a brave fight for life following a skin graft operation.
The post-mortem examination was carried out at Winchester's Royal Hamp-shire County Hospital and police investigations are continuing.
Police have appealed for witnesses or anyone with information to call 0845 045 4545, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
A 17-year-old man arrested in connection with the incident is on police bail and is due to report at Eastleigh Police Station on Tuesday, June 12.
