A GANG bundled a man into the back of a van before taking him on a terror drive across Hampshire.

Four men kidnapped the 21-year-old as he walked along a Southampton street and threw him into their vehicle.

The victim was driven around for four-and-a-half hours before being dragged out and tied to a fence several miles away.

The gang then drove off, leaving him bound to the fence outside a house in Chandler's Ford.

Police officers examined the area in Milton Road, Southampton, where the man was abducted, and put leaflets through doors in the Milton Road area in a bid to find witnesses.

Detectives believe four men were involved in the attack, which happened at 1.30am on Wednesday.

They are described as black with London accents.

Police were alerted to the kidnapping when a resident spotted the victim tied to the fence and raised the alarm.

They do not yet know what the motive for the abduction was.

The large white van the kidnappers were driving had a sliding door to the nearside and double doors at the back.

Anyone who knows anything about the incident or thinks they may have seen the men with the van between 1.30am and 6am on Wednesday in the Southampton or Chandler's Ford areas should call Shirley CID on 0845 045 4545. Alternatively, they can call the anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111.
