TWO men have been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter after two men died when both were hit by a car on the A303.
Hampshire police arrested the two men, one who is aged 18 and the other in his early twenties, after the crash just before midnight last night.
It happened on the busy dual carriageway near the Thruxton race track, near Andover.
The female driver of the car, was taken to Southampton General Hospital with serious head injuries and a male passenger suffered minor injuries.
Both pedestrians who died are thought to be in their early twenties and police believe the man who died may have been lying in the road along the westbound carriageway when he was hit.
It is unclear how they suffered their injuries or how they ended up in the road.
Police have also not revealed whether one or both of the men were dead before they were hit by the car.
One of the men arrested was found nearby by officers searching the area four hours later and the second man shortly after.
Anyone who may have seen the crash or two men in the area is asked to contact the Roads Policing Unit at Weyhill on 0845 045 4545.
Both sides of the A303 were expected to be closed for this morning as police continue their investigations.
