ANNE Croudass will proudly wear the No 1 shirt at this year's Race for Life event in Southampton.
Race organiser Hannah Davies explained why she had been chosen.
"I am truly delighted that Anne will be wearing the No 1 running number at the Southampton Race for Life on July 15 2007!
"Anne and her colleagues do a wonderful job of supporting those touched by cancer and their families at Southampton Hospital and we are so very grateful for her dedication and that of her team to the fight against cancer.
"At Cancer Research UK, we really want to be able to fund the work of Anne and her colleagues as cancer nurses across the UK - through events such as Race for Life. This is why I want to urge every women who is taking part to help us raise our target of over £1million in Hampshire - we can do it!
"Every penny really counts and there are loads of great and fun ideas for fundraising on our race for life website - www.raceforlife.org," she said.
Places for the local events are filling fast but Hannah explained there was still time to enroll.
"Thank you so much to all those women who have entered the Races in Southampton and Winchester so far, we are very grateful indeed, as without your support and fundraising, we could not continue to fund the work that we do at Cancer Research UK into the treatment, prevention and care of those affected by cancer."
