DETECTIVES have arrested four people following a hit and run accident that left a young talented diver dead.
Gavin Brown was killed when he was hit by a Blue Vauxhall Astra in the road outside The Hobbit pub in Portswood, Southampton.
Gavin, 22, was in his first year studying Criminology in the city and had spent the hours before his death with his friend, Olympic diver Pete Waterfield.
Gavin suffered serious head injuries and died a short time later in Southampton General Hospital following the crash at around 2am last Saturday.
The driver of the car failed to stop at the scene and made off towards Portswood.
Following a search of the area, police located the Vauxhall Astra in Alma Road.
The Road Death Investigation Team at Eastleigh are investigating the circumstances of the collision and appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information that might help with the inquiry to contact them.
Two 20-year-old men, a 21-year-old man and a 14-year-old girl all from Southampton, were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and bailed until June 27.
