THE campaign to reverse one of the worst highways blunders in the south is gathering pace.
Scores of Daily Echo readers sent in letters and posted comments on our website backing the removal of traffic lights installed at the junction of the M27 and M271.
Many more names were added to an e-petition on the number 10 Downing Street website calling on the PM to intervene.
The "road improvements" by the Highways Agency are causing daily motorway misery for thousands of drivers. A filter lane on to the roundabout was replaced with traffic lights as part of works to the junction in March this year.
Drivers have inundated the offices of the Daily Echo with hundreds of complaints about long queues and traffic delays as vehicles heading to Southampton join the M271 from the westbound M27 carriageway.
Nigel Humphries from the Association of British Drivers branded the agency incompetent, arrogant and disrespectful towards motorists.
An HA spokesman said an ongoing review would report back in the summer.
