POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a Hampshire man died in a road accident.
The 43-year-old man from Gosport died instantly after a metal shackle crashed through his car windscreen on the junction of the A334 Botley Road and the A2177 Winchester Road at Shedfield.
The metal pole struck the driver in the head before exiting through the rear windscreen causing the driver's Metro to collide with the embankment.
It is believed the shackle may have come from a heavy goods vehicle, which has not been located.
Anyone who can help with the investigation is asked to contact the Cosham Roads Policing Unit on 0845 045 45 45 quoting Operation Arnfield.
