THESE dramatic pictures taken by a Daily Echo reader show paramedics tending to a man after a slab of concrete fell on him as he worked in Ocean Village. He was taken to hospital with a suspected broken leg.
The drama happened yesterday in the Ocean Way and Canute Road area where the man is thought to have been working on a new car park, opposite the Princess Alexandra docks. Police said initial reports suggested a piece of roofing had fallen on the worker however it was later understood that a large slab of concrete had been knocked by a crane.
Firefighters and paramedics were also called to the scene shortly after 1pm. Two men - one believed to be the crane driver - were taken to hospital.
