In the past twelve months Bays Curry McCowen (BCM) has seen feverish activity negotiating wayleaves and compensation for clients who have the Barton Stacey to Humbly Grove gas storage project across their land. In addition they have negotiated terms on behalf of landowners and farmers on the National Grid Gas Barton Stacey to Lockerley scheme. Now the latest proposal by Southern Gas Networks is the Crawley Down to Boorley Green proposed gas main.
Agents for Southern Gas Networks have written to landowners asking for permission to undertake surveys so that they can determine the route. Landowners and farmers affected are entitled to independent professional advice paid for by the gas company and compensation for any fees incurred.
Alastair Wilson of BCM is able to offer expert advice on this matter having acted previously for clients on other schemes in Hampshire over the last two years.
Alastair says, "Landowners and farmers need to make sure they get a properly negotiated compensation package maximising their return, whilst ensuring the terms are such that they protect the situation for the future. This is not only necessary for pipeline schemes but is also pertinent for telecom masts or any other wayleaves."
