A TERRIFIED blind and deaf dog that was left abandoned on a Winchester Street is lucky to still be alive say the animal charity that rescued him.
Patrick the seven-year-old Border Collie was spotted by a passer by wandering the city's streets almost two-weeks ago, before being handed over to staff at the Second Chance Animal Rescue Centre in Southampton.
The collie, described by staff as a super cuddly dog', has needed more than £900 in vets cost to have a cataract removed from his eyes to help restore his failing sight.
Bosses at the centre have now launched an appeal to find Patrick a new home, and say they are appalled that his former owners could have dumped him on the street after seven-years without knowing he would be safe.
A coffee morning and bring-and-buy sale is also being held in Otterbourne this morning to help raise cash to pay for the costs of Patrick's operation.
