A WOMAN had her handbag snatched at knifepoint in an early morning robbery in Southampton.
The 35-year-old was walking near the junction of Tremona Road and Laundry Road when a man approached and demanded her handbag.
When she refused to hand it over, the man pulled out a knife.
As the woman turned to walk away, she was followed by the man, who moments later snatched her beige bag, which contained a Nokia mobile phone and cash.
The attacker was seen running off in the direction of Lavender Court.
Police have described the man as white, 5ft 6in and of skinny build. He was wearing an ash/blue-coloured jumper, hooded top and trousers.
Officers at the Hulse Road station in Southampton are investigating the incident, which happened on Monday at about 6.45am. They are appealing to anyone who was in the Tremona Road/Laundry Roads at the time to contact them.
The latest knife attack comes just weeks after the Daily Echo launched its Carrying a Blade - It's Not Sharp! campaign to rid the streets of knives.
Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Andrew Alderson in the robbery investigation team at Hulse Road on 0845 045 4545 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
