POLICE have launched an investigation after Poppy Appeal boxes were stolen from Hampshire businesses.

Officers have issued a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to in connection with the incident, which emerges as millions fell silent to honour those killed in armed conflict.

The man is described as being white and tall and wore dark clothing with a hood to cover up his face.

It is not known how much money was in the boxes, which were taken from the Odeon Cinema, Premier Inn and Basingstoke Aquadrome in Basingstoke Leisure Park on November 7.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101 and ask to speak to PC Nicholas Grainger at Basingstoke police station and quote crime reference number 44150388519.
