COUNCILLORS have given the go ahead to a major care facility set to create 60 new jobs.

Plans for a new dementia care centre for Hampshire put forward by charity Brendoncare will give specialist nursing care to 64 patients and provide independent living for those with dementia through 20 apartments.

A Community Resource Hub would provide clubs and activities for both the centre’s residents and also for people in the wider community as well as respite care.

The plans, for undeveloped grassland on the edge of Otterbourne and Allbrook, at the top of Otterbourne Hill, are for a mixture of two and three storey buildings.

Members of Eastleigh Local Area Committee approved the proposal.

Care home operator Brendoncare said the facility would replace its care home in Otterbourne, The Old Parsonage, and the homes current residents would be moved to the new facility, though those using the independent living will be unaffected.
