A DERELICT Hampshire hospital site being used as a 'fight club’ by youngsters will be transformed with dozens of homes.
Developers have been given the green light by Eastleigh Borough councillors to build dozens of homes on part of the Moorgreen Hospital in West End and convert some of its locally listed historic buildings into flats.
Despite fears raised over traffic, pressure on local services and the future hospital services on the rest of the site if this went ahead, members of the Hedge End, West End and Botley Local Area Committee voted in favour.
Barratt Homes plans to build 121 homes after demolishing buildings on the land, which is owned by the Homes and Communities Agency, but will keep the locally listed former workhouse building and gatehouse buildings. As previously reported, police told how young people were trespassing and using the derelict site, off Botley Road, for organised fights and drinking.
