Armed police with dogs have raided a Hampshire home after an alleged domestic incident.

Officers were called to the scene at Forster Road, Southampton at about 8pm last night and used a car to block the road.

It is the second raid within 12 hours after a similar incident at a flat in Millbrook Towers earlier in the day.

One Forster Road resident said he and his flat mate saw armed police walking along Spear Road for about an hour.

He said: "It was as if they were searching for someone.

"We could see them constantly looking around, whilst more officers stood on the corner of our road."

Forster Road and Spear Road in St Denys were closed and a Forster road resident saw the events unfold from his window.

The 23 year-old said the street was completely quiet before the drama unfolded and police stormed the street.

He said: "I saw one guy trying to run off but officers managed to trap him against a wall.

"There were then armed police banging on the door of the bottom flat shouting to be let in.

"It must have been something serious to warrant that many officers.

"It was just crazy seeing something like that."

A Spear Road resident said he saw the police cars blocking the road so decided to see what was happening.

He said: "I went to pop my head out just out of interest.

"Next thing I knew there ws a police officer shouting at me to get back inside.

"God knows what was going on but I thought I better stay well away."
