FRIENDS and families gathered to celebrate as they were handed their degrees at a special ceremony in Southampton.

In total 576 business and media students from Southampton’s Solent University commemorated the end of their course, while hotelier Robin Hutson was awarded with an honorary degree.

Mr Hutson, who owns the award-winning 26-room hotel The Pig in Brockenhurst, was made a Doctor of Business.

He addressed the students and said: “I sincerely hope you’ll go on from here to find the job you love and perhaps equally importantly, mentors who will continue to inspire you.”

And it was double trouble for two families as the University honoured two sets of twins at today’s ceremony.

Thomas and Daniel Digweed, 23 and from Newbury, received a first and 2:1 in Popular Music Production, while Stuart and Robert Mitchell, 23 and from Grantham earned a 2.1 in Marketing with Advertising Management and first in Business Management respectively.
