DRIVERS in Southampton literally risked getting stuck in traffic yesterday when wet concrete forced the closure of a busy city road.
The liquid concrete was discovered on West Quay Road and motorists experienced delays after one of the road’s westbound lanes near the junction with Harbour Parade was closed to clean it up at 2.30pm on Monday.
It is not known exactly where the split concrete came from or what caused it to end up on the road.
A Southampton City Council spokesman said: “Members of our street cleansing team attended the scene to remove the debris and reopen the road as soon as it was safe to do so.
“Incidents like this are rare but we are always prepared to deal with any eventuality as swiftly as possible.”
