A DENTIST is considering her future in Fareham after plans to double the size of her surgery were blocked.

Dr Manori Ambrose was hoping to extend her surgery in Titchfield Common in a bid to treat the thousands of patients on her waiting list.

However, due to concerns over noise and parking in the residential area disturbing neighbours, Fareham Borough Council refused to give permission for the extension in Hunts Pond Road.

The controversial decision has left Dr Ambrose furious and she is now considering whether or not to move her surgery to a place where she can meet the needs of her patients.

Hundreds of people lined the streets, queuing for hours, when the Manor Surgery was first opened in February in a bid to secure an NHS place.

Dr Ambrose received NHS funding to add another dentist to the surgery, which meant 2,500 more patients would have been treated, bringing the surgery's total to 5,000.

However, councillors believed that more patients would lead to more disturbances to the residents and would put an extra strain on parking.

Dr Ambrose said: "I am now left questioning whether my future is here.

"I wanted to help people in the area where I grew up and now I am being prevented from doing so."

Titchfield Common councillor Keith Evans was one of those who voted against the plans.

He said: "This is a residential area and there is already noise disturbance from the premises and more patients would lead to cars having to reverse up the busy road."
