A MAJOR Hampshire shopping centre has been revealed as the latest to back this summer’s art event in the county.
The Brooks Shopping Centre in Winchester has been revealed as the latest organisation to sign up to sponsor one of the many Zany Zebra sculptures that will form a trail around Southampton City Centre.
The trail follows in the the hoof-prints of the successful Go!Rhino trail, which saw thousands of families track down the sculptures that had been decorated by their company sponsors.
Marwell Wildlife is hoping to stage an even bigger event this summer with the Zany Zebras leading the stampede through the city.
The Brooks shopping centre in Winchester, which offers an exciting and eclectic assortment of national and independent shops to experience, has pledged its support.
Liz Marsden, marketing and communications manager, said: “We are delighted to be able to sponsor one of Marwell’s Zany Zebras. It’s a fantastic community campaign which supports a great cause – raising money to help conserve these beautiful and endangered Grévy’s zebras. We can’t wait to see the Brooks zebra out and about!”
Marwell Zoo, near Winchester, will also host its own trail of miniature sculptures as part of the public art event which will also raise awareness and funds for the conservation work the zoo does with the Grévy's zebra breed around the world.
Kirstie Mathieson, Project Manager for Marwell’s Zany Zebras said: “Marwell’s Zany Zebras will raise the profile of all the sponsors and partners involved to hundreds of thousands of visitors and residents alike, exploring not only the trail in Southampton but the miniature trail at Marwell Zoo too. We are delighted that the Brooks Shopping Centre have recognised this opportunity and joined the stampede to sponsor a zebra.”
Gilbert the Zebra, Marwell’s first zany sculpture, will be visiting the Brooks Shopping Centre on January 23.
