A MAN was airlifted to hospital after he was found behind his wheel when his car smashed into a wall.

Emergency services shut Botley Road between Swanwick Lane and the A334, near Curdridge after he was found at about 7.45am on Saturday morning for most of the day.

No other car was involved in the incident which saw his car career off the road.

It is understood he had a heart attack and was taken by air ambulance to Southampton General Hospital.
