AN escaped prisoner conned a Hampshire man out of thousands of pounds after selling him a prestigious sports car he had borrowed from a car dealership.
Notorious conman John Bond, 55, who has been on the run for five years, placed an advert in a local newspaper offering the £21,000 Audi A4 convertible for just £6,500.
The "too good to be true" offer did the trick and Bond, who was jailed for swindling cars and cash out of wealthy women, "sold" the vehicle after convincing his victim it had belonged to his recently-deceased mother.
