CAR thieves across Hampshire are using the latest technology to seek out expensive items hidden in cars.
Crooks employ hi-tech Bluetooth systems to take items including satellite navigation equipment, laptop computers, digital cameras and video game consoles.
Police in Eastleigh, the New Forest and Test Valley have have urged motorists not to leave any valuables in vehicles.
Officers believe that thieves may be using Blue-tooth technology to locate valuable goods in cars which they later target.
Seven incidents were reported in one night in Stubbington Way, Fair Oak, and Merlin Gardens, Hedge End.
All of the vehicles appeared to have been picked out and police believe technology which allows signals to be sent over a short range radio frequency was used.
The latest scam comes just weeks after the Daily Echo revealed how car owners in the Millbrook area of Southampton were warned to be on their guard after thieves stole valuable satellite navigation systems from 12 cars in March.
It is believed that the thieves used the "scan for device" option on their mobile phones to trace the satellite navigation equipment, which all had a Bluetooth facility.
A police spokesman said motorists should not leave anything in unattended vehicles or attempt to hide items as thieves may be watching the car park.
Motorists are also reminded to ensure vehicles are left locked and secure.
n Anyone with any information concerning the thefts from in Hedge End and Fair Oak between May 13 and May 14 should call Eastleigh police on 0845 045 4545.
