THE co-owner of a cult music venue threatened with closure has issued a desperate plea to Hampshire music fans to help save the venue.
Liquidators had moved in on The Brook, in Portswood, Southampton, threatening to make last weekend's gigs the last.
But despite impending closure the club defiantly threw open its doors and staged planned gigs by The ELO Experience and blind Canadian guitarist Jeff Healey.
Owner Bryn Lewis today confirmed that gigs will continue to go ahead throughout June, and urged music fans across the county to help save the 600-capacity venue by buying tickets.
The Brook had gone bust after it was put on the market earlier this month for around £900,000 by well-known city construction magnate Patrick Trant.
The venue in Portswood Road, has staged more than 3,500 gigs since it opened 13 years ago, and has seen music legends such as Bill Wyman and John Martyn perform.
Southampton MP John Denham has thrown his weight behind the campaign to save the venue, describing it as a "great place to hear music".
