POLICE officers carrying out a drugs raid at a building in Southampton made a rather unusual discovery.
Instead of finding drugs or signs of criminal activity earlier today, they discovered five very young kittens.
A police spokesman said: "We carried out a drugs warrant in an empty building on Derby Rd today and found something a little unexpected.
"Instead of finding any drugs or criminal activity our Neighbourhood Policing Team discovered some kittens.
"They are several days old and appear to have been abandoned by their mother, they would likely have died if they hadn't been rescued."
The police contacted the RSPCA and they are now looking being looked after at the Stubbington Ark animal shelter.
They are being hand-reared at the moment and so are not available for rehoming at the moment,.
Anyone interested in looking after the kittens in the future should contact Stubbington Ark.
