IT will be a dream come true for soccer-crazy youngsters who want to emulate their sporting hero.

Children visiting this year's New Forest and Hampshire County Show will be able to take part in coaching sessions staged by the David Beckham Academy, which aims to find the soccer superstars of the future.

Staff from the London branch of the academy are due to visit the three-day show as part of a nationwide tour.

The news coincides with Beckham's dramatic recall to the England squad after a nine-month absence following last year's World Cup flop.

The former England captain is not expected to appear at the show but the academy's decision to take part is a major coup for the event, which attracts about 100,000 people a year from across the south.

A show spokesman told the Daily Echo: "It's the first time the academy has come out of London.

"We are one of just five outside venues that it will be visiting - and the only one in the south."

Coaching sessions for 12 children at a time will be staged every half-an-hour. Twenty minutes of football training followed by ten minutes of fun activities, including a question-and-answer session.

Each youngster will be able to enter a local and national draw.

The four winners of the national draw will jet off to the USA for a five-day visit to the Los Angeles branch of the academy. The three runners-up will spend a day at its London base.

Each child who wants to take part in the coaching sessions at the show will have to be accompanied by an adult.

They must report to the Volkswagen Touran stand and reserve one of the places, which will be awarded on a first come, first served basis.

A show spokesman said details had only just been finalised and added: "The timing couldn't be better."

On Saturday it was announced that Beckham, 32, had been recalled to the England squad for the friendly against Brazil at Wembley on Friday.

An academy spokesman said: "David Beckham wanted to be a professional footballer ever since he attended the Bobby Charlton Soccer School.

"Now he has established the academy to offer others the same chances that he enjoyed as a boy."

The show will be held at New Park, Brockenhurst, on July 24-26.
