ONE Hampshire choir has reached fever pitch as it moves a step closer to performing live on one of the nation's biggest television shows.
As the hunt for the Joseph Choir began, singers at more than 800 schools fine-tuned their voices and perfected their dance moves, hoping to impress Andrew Lloyd Webber and perform live to millions on BBC1's Any Dream Will Do.
However, it is the Robin Choir of Lymington CE Infant School which has silenced the competition and become the only school in the county to reach the final 20.
Now its fate is in the hands of Andrew Lloyd Webber, as he will decide which of the choirs will make the top three.
The musical maestro, who is searching for the next star of the West End to play Joseph in Joseph and His Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, launched the competition last month, causing schools up and down the country to go Joseph crazy.
Each choir, made up of children aged six to 11, posted its performance on the competition website, where the public could vote for their favourite.
Such was the excitement and popularity surrounding the search, the website crashed because it was flooded with hundreds of entries. If the Robins are chosen as one of the top three, a BBC camera crew will be sent to the school to film them as the final result is announced tomorrow.
