A MAN had to be rescued from his upturned car after a crash on the M27 between a lorry and a car close to the turnoff for the Rownhams services this afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the scene of the crash shortly before 3pm after reports from other motorists of a car on its roof.
A spokesman for Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service said the male driver of the car was treated for shock and minor arm injuries at the scene before being transported to Southampton General Hospital for further treatment.
Meanwhile police were forced to seal off two lanes on the M27 while the crashed car and articulated lorry were hauled off the westbound M27, between junctions four and three.
A spokesman for Hampshire Constabulary said the process of clearing away the two vehicles and removing debris off the road would lead to long tailbacks and advised motorists to stay clear of the area if at all possible.
The lanes were re-opened at 4.30pm.
