A WOMAN has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries after two people were hit by a car this morning.
The woman was walking along Leigh Road with another person when a Volkswagen Golf hit her before 7.45am.
She had been walking near the Hampshire Fire and Rescue headquarters when she was hit.
The extent of her injuries is not yet known but a spokeswoman from Hampshire Constabulary has confirmed they are serious and the woman is now being treated at Southampton General Hospital.
A spokeswoman from South Central Ambulance Service said that two pedestrians were involved in the incident and a woman in her sixties had been taken to hospital with non-life threatening head injuries after crossing the road.
She said: “We were called at 7.48am to an RTC involving a car and two pedestrians just outside Hampshire Fire and Rescue Headquarters. We sent a rapid response vehicle and ambulance to asses two people on the scene, one was treated on the scene and a woman was taken to hospital.”
